This is Tejal, also known as Purplepaw.
I’m from Mumbai, and I've been cosplaying for the past 5 years. This is my first time being one of the qualifiers for the Indian Cosplay Championship, and I'm very excited for the finals.
My character's name is Maiev Shadowsong from the game World of Warcraft.
Maiev is a night elf warden and former Priestess of the Moon.Her sense of duty and dedication to protect the world and her family makes me connect more with her character. She represents a strong and dedicated woman, which I admire the most!
Also, her armour has a very unique colour theme of olive to sap green with golden highlights. I feel her armour is based on the owl theme—if you see the helmet, it looks like an owl's face. Her weapon and shoulder blades represent the crescent moon. Overall, I fell for the entire character design at first sight.
I've recycled old foam armour parts for the helmet and chest plate. Also, over the years, I've had so much foam waste lying in my workshop that I barely bought any new material for this cosplay. The idea behind making this cosplay was to work with what I had and to create minimum waste.All the small details you see on the armour are made from scrap pieces that had been lying around.
For LEDs, I decided to go environment-friendly and avoid using batteries, so I used LED strips that can run on power banks and are also colour-changing. I can remove the entire strip and reuse it next time. I used my old bracelet as a hair ornament, made gloves from old brown stockings, and the purple ponytail is made of waste/remaining wefts from different wigs—and that's how I made this cosplay. I absolutely enjoyed the journey.
